To our dearest friends, the brothers and sisters of the C-Sky family,

After long hours of thought and with heavy but grateful hearts, we’ve decided to make the following announcement: starting in January of 2011 we will be going on an indefinite hiatus. We’ve made some personal and collective choices that have driven the decision, but we’re all in agreement that it’s time for us to step back from Cadillac Sky.

This band has been an incredible journey for us. We’ve each been blessed to make music that we love for people that we love even more. We’ve played in some of the greatest places a band could aspire to perform, stretched ourselves creatively, and through it all have been supported by YOU. You’ve let us crash on your floors, fed us at ridiculous hours of the morning, traveled miles to see us play and shared your stories and honesty with us. You’re not just fans – you’re our friends, and you’re the greatest friends any band could hope for.

Know that none of this would have been possible without you. The door may be closing for now, but we’ll still be making music and adding our individual involvement to many different and new projects. We’ll keep you up-to-date on what we’re doing and what’s going on. New chapters are beginning to unfold and we look forward to you joining us; you are why we make music.

Times are good! We are having a blast out on the road with Mumford & Sons and King Charles. Times are also very busy. We’ll keep you updated with pictures and video as much as we can. We love all of our friends who’ve been with us from the start and we look forward to having you hang with all of the new friends we’ve been met on this journey.

The World Cafe will be broadcasting selections from Cadillac Sky’s performance at the Philadelphia Folk Festival on Tuesday, September 14th, 2010. National Public Radio’s World Cafe with host David Dye can be heard on over 200 stations nationwide.

Cadillac Sky, on a recent trip to the Big Apple, had the privilege of visiting the fine folks at Relix. Relix is the second longest, continuously running music magazine in the United States after Rolling Stone.

We set up down in the boiler room and got things cookin’!  They caught “Hangman” on video and rolled audio on “Trapped Under The Ice” and “Human Cannonball”. See the aftermath of our visit to Relix and our trip to the boiler here AND here.

Cadillac Sky’s music video for “Hangman” was shot by our favorite director, Roger Pistole, at Tent City, Nashville, Tennessee’s largest homeless community, just weeks before the historic flood that lifted the Cumberland River 13 feet above flood stage, causing an estimated $1.9 billion dollars in damage and killing more than 30 people across Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky.

Located right along the river, Tent City was totally wiped out by the floods. Today all that remains of the area pictured in the video…are ruins. What was once a distinctive tight-knit community is now a toxic wasteland. The estimated 140 residents lost their homes and what little they owned.
