New Album Letters In the Deep Produced by Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) Set For Release in Early Summer
After considering traditional offers from a handful of labels, Cadillac Sky will release their new album in early summer through a unique partnership with Dualtone Music.
“After weighing all the opportunities for releasing this phenomenal new CD, remaining independent is without question the best option,” said the band’s manager Evert Wilbrink who is optimistic about the partnership. “Dualtone shares our vision and their track record speaks for itself. With Dualtone, we will optimize our national and international momentum while still owning and controlling our music.”
Scott Robinson, President of Dualtone, is excited about working with the band that brings progressive ideas not just to their music, but also in the fresh way they think about and do their business. “I really believe Cadillac Sky has the potential to be one of the big breakout artists of 2010. The direction they took with this new album puts them in a unique position to cross many genre boundaries that still exist out there and we’re pleased to be partnering up with these guys.”
The new album Letters in the Deep, produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, is anything but traditional and marks the metamorphosis of Cadillac Sky from a critically-acclaimed Bluegrass band to a band without boundaries. Over the past year, Cadillac Sky has explored a lot of new terrain live on stage and with the recent addition of David Mayfield on guitar the band has developed into one of the most exciting rock-shows around. That new energy also translated into the studio as Cadillac Sky began recording the new album in Auerbach’s studio, Akron Analog. The Akron sessions proved to be a pivotal moment for the band and Auerbach played an instrumental role with a hands-off production approach, totally concentrating on shaping the sound of the record. The result is an honest, breathing piece of art that is amazingly authentic and gut-wrenchingly real.
Producer Dan Auerbach: “They rose to the occasion. There’s some really beautiful sounds on Letters In The Deep, it is as much of a living album as it is an art piece and I’m definitely proud to have my name attached to this project. Whatever genre it is, it’s a really great album, and I’m happy that I got to make it.”

Brothers and Sisters, Ladies and Gentlemen- and all those left unidentified, the past few months have been exciting for the C-Sky boys- just thought you’d like to know a small portion of the most recent crazy things God in His infinite grace has sent our way…
On Dec. 3rd, it was announced that the album C-Sky’s rousing guitarist, David Mayfield, recorded and engineered for Barry Scott & Second wind “In God’s Time” was nominated for a GRAMMY!! The award is in the Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album category. He is now, officially, David “Grammy Nominated recording engineer” Mayfield. Congrats To Barry Scott and Second Wind as well!
As of a few months ago, The Dook, aka Bryan “The” Simpson, achieved his first Top 5 songwriting credit. The Dook penned Blake Shelton’s recent single “I’ll Just Hold On” which climbed to #5 on The Billboard charts and spent over 32 weeks in the top 40. This is the Dook’s second song to crack Billboard’s Top 20 with “Before I Knew Better” rising to #15 a few years ago.
Ross and Matt have recently started a new tour de force side project with some of their favorite people not to mention musicians. The quartet, entitled “The Good Thieves”, includes Coloradan guitar guru Grant Gordy whose talents can also be heard with the David Grisman Quintet on a more regular basis, and North Carolina dobro revolutionary Billy Cardine, who is on a hiatus from his great band, The Biscuit Burners. The group will be releasing tour dates for 2010 soon, and promises to continue to explore and push the boundaries of new acoustic music.
Finally, Ross, the busy boy that he is, will be joining the Greencards on a few dates in 2010 to help fill the gap between Eamon’s departure on violin and the ever-ambiguous “new guy”. He will be manning the violin Jan. 14, 15, 16, and 22nd as the Greencards hit the road with The Infamous Stringdusters. Being a big fan of The “‘Cards”, it will be cool to see Ross adding his wares to their sound- if only a brief affair.
We are proud to announce that your C-Sky boys are going to be a part of 2010’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival alongside a few fine folks you might also enjoy including Yonder Mountain String Band, Josh Ritter, Punch Brothers, Del McCoury Band, Mumford & Sons and many more of our musical heroes and friends.
